Stuck inside? The coronavirus brings challenges for us all, from social isolation to eating healthy and staying active to getting a good night’s sleep. Boredom and stress set in. This puts us at high-risk for returning to our comfort zones. These are our old bad habits that we use to self-soothe, things like alcohol, smoking, or overeating. For me it’s eating high carb, sugar-laden comfort foods while binge watching TV all-night. DON’T EVEN GO THERE. Because this IS the slippery slope that will end in weight regain. Breathology offers a free video and ebook on correct breathing. CORRECT breathing is essential to life. It feeds the body's life-force and is part of our body's detoxification system. CORRECT breathing calms the autonomic nervous system and brings peace and tranquility to mind and body if practiced regularly.
Believe it or not, breathing is something most of us do incorrectly. I learned pranayama (breath work) at the Himalayan Institute. And my exercise physiologist at Nova Southeastern University taught me a breathing routine that, unbeknownst to him, is pranayama technique. I highly recommend breath work to help you remain calm during the stress-filled days ahead.
