The Best Bariatric Blog — Journey

How to exercise without even realizing it
Weight loss surgery is a lifestyle change. You cannot simply just have the surgery and expect everything to get better overnight. You have to put in work to lose the weight and keep it off for good. So much of this journey is about what you are eating, but you cannot forget about the exercise portion of this as well.

Postpartum Issues after Weight Loss Surgery
Having a baby and becoming a parent is a life changing event. There are so many beautiful moments and it is such an incredible feeling watching your baby grow. Postpartum is a journey in itself, but throw on top of that bariatric surgery, and it is even more complicated. Your body goes through so many changes after having a baby and I found that being a bariatric patient probably affected my experience as well.
Following Bariatric Guidelines while on Vacation
The weather is finally starting to warm up and we are all starting to come out of quarantine a little more. This means some people are starting to take vacations again. If you have recently had weight loss surgery or are still within your first year after the procedure, you might be a little nervous to take a little break and go somewhere. If you are like me, you might be a creature of habit and hopefully ever since your surgery, you have been forming new healthy habits that you are starting to make into your new routine. When we go on vacation, we are obviously out of our routine.- Kimberly H.

What are you going to do differently this year?
It’s the New Year, which means it is the perfect time to reflect on your life and where you want to improve. I think this is an activity you should be doing at all times throughout the year, but especially at the beginning when you feel renewed. There is a healthy way to do this activity though, because you do not want to go too extreme where it will backfire on you. There are so many times that I have set unrealistic resolutions and within a couple weeks, I have done more damage than good.- Kimberly H.

Eating Disorders after Weight Loss Surgery
Weight loss surgery is an amazing tool that provides so many people with success on their weight loss journey. Bariatric patients can drop weight extremely fast after surgery and it truly is an amazing feeling. However, this can also be a dangerous thing for patients because we can get obsessed with the scale. This can backfire and cause us to go to the complete other extreme after weight loss surgery.
Confidence During Summer Months as a Bariatric Patient
Summertime is here, which means it is hot hot hot! As someone who has lived morbidly obese for most of my life, I can tell you I have spent most of my life dreading these months. The thought of wearing shorts has always given me anxiety. I have always been so self-conscious about the way I look, no matter how big or small I am. After bariatric surgery, it is hard to turn that mindset off.
Reward System after Bariatric Surgery
As a bariatric patient, it is an amazing feeling when you hit your goals. This is a lifestyle change and we work so hard to change the way we look at food and exercise. One thing I have learned on this journey is how important it is to have a reward system after weight loss surgery. This is a long process and I truly believe we must reward ourselves for the progress we are making.
Spring is near!
It is officially March which means Spring is almost here! When you are on a weight loss surgery journey, one of the most important things you can do is get up and move. During the winter months, it can be challenging to get the initiative to do this. It feels so much darker and it can be easy to just sit on the couch all day. Spring brings new life which gives so much fresh energy that we all need on a weight loss surgery journey.- Kimberly H.
